SCHOOL MEALS
School meals are an essential tool to ensure food and nutritional security for children and adolescents, in addition to contributing to local agriculture and promoting healthy eating habits from an early age.
The Comida do Amanhã Institute is engaged in strengthening public policies that ensure the provision of balanced, sustainable and culturally appropriate meals, with a focus on the National School Meals Program (PNAE). We work in the production and dissemination of knowledge, in research and case studies, in the articulation of networks and in the encouragement of initiatives that expand social participation and transparency in the management of school meals.
In the field of school nutrition, the PNAE Agroecológico program stands out for its aim to expand the supply of foods from family farming and agroecology within the National School Meals Program (PNAE). The initiative strengthens students’ food and nutritional security by ensuring healthier, pesticide-free and culturally adequate meals, in addition to promoting short marketing chains and supporting local producers.
